Trapping is carried out for a variety of reasons. In it’s earliest days, trapping was primarily used for food, fur and other animal products as survival means. Today, the uses for trapping have expanded to include things like pest control, wildlife management, the pet trade, and zoological specimens.
Trapping requires time and energy but can be very efficient. Therefore, it’s an incredibly useful skill to have. Despite its usefulness, it’s incredibly rare to run into someone who is well versed in the in’s and out’s of trapping.
As the old adage goes: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to trap and you feed him and his family for a lifetime.”
