In a recently released study, Harvard University found that children living in areas with heavily fluoridated water had “significantly lower” IQ scores than those living in areas with less fluoridation.
The report (found here) states:
Findings from our meta-analyses of 27 studies published over 22 years suggest an inverse association between high fluoride exposure and children’s intelligence …
and…
The results suggest that fluoride may be a developmental neurotoxicant that affects brain development at exposures much below those that can cause toxicity in adults …
With fully two-thirds of the U.S. water supply now fluoridated, this report should be concerning to all of us. Despite more than 23 human studies (and 100 animal studies) showing a link between fluoride and brain damage, anyone that raises concerns about this substance is usually dismissed as a conspiracy theorist.
Now that Harvard is joining the discussion, hopefully our concerns will be taken more seriously.
